It is with sadness that we inform you of the passing of our friend and long time member, Dan DePalma, Sr. We extend our sincerest sympathies to his family and friends.

Mr. Daniel E. De Palma, 88, died on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Wayne, NJ.

Born and raised in Belleville, Mr. De Palma moved to West Caldwell in 1964.  He was the proud owner of Equipment Sales and Service in Bloomfield for over 60 years. He was a proud member of the Garden State Towing Association, where he served as an advisor to the health insurance committee.

He was also active in the New Jersey Jobbers Association, where he served as the President in 1979, as well as Treasurer, Trustee of the Scholarship Fund, the Executive Committee, the finance committee and the membership committee.

In 1953 he married Concetta Bonfante and together they raised their family of three children.  He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1956.

Mr. De Palma was predeceased by his parents, James and Philomena De Palma and his siblings, Nunzio, William, James, Susan and Drena.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Concetta “Connie” De Palma; his loving children, Marea (John) and Daniel, Jr. (Diane); his daughter-in-law, Deborah;  and cherished seven grandchildren, Brielle, Daniel, Dominick, Jr., Dana, Deanna, Daniel-James and Daniela Grace and two great-grandchildren, Cayden and James-Stuart.

Visiting will be held in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona on Sunday, June 13 from 1 to 5 pm.  Funeral will start at the funeral home on Monday, June 14 from 10 to 10:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Notre Dame Church, 359 Central Ave., North Caldwell at 11 am. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated.

At the request of the family a tow truck procession is being prepared to honor Dan. Please contact Mary Leigh at 732-530-4782.  All trucks need to be at the funeral home at 9:30am on Monday.
